[T]he two were having a heart-to-heart talk when he said, “There is something I’ve wanted to know since I was 12 or 13 years old. You’ve done everything for me, solved everything for me, but [...]

“More evidence ties media violence to teen violence” from Reuters.
“The Skeptic’s Guide to Violent Video Game Studies” from Blogcritics, via Reuters.

Once again the news tries to claim victory over “violent media” by claiming some recent study proves children and teenagers blah blah blah blah blah I think you get the idea.

Via “The War on Thanksgiving!” from Gawker, blogged by Pareene.

The most important thing typed was on Gawker, however:

I asked my parents to buy me this book for my last birthday, and they did. I originally found out about it reading through TorrentFreak, but I don’t know what I really expected of this book–besides an interesting premise–although I’ve been very pleased with what I’ve gotten. On every page there was a lot to [...]

“Teenagers to be banned from drinking before driving, advisors propose” from The Telegraph, written by Tom Whitehead.

I’m starting to get the feeling of monotony after covering the topic of the drinking age only two days ago, but I guess I can do it again. Some gems from the above article:
The Home Secretary Jacqui Smith is [...]

The main psychological mechanism that operates in all child abuse involves using children as what I have termed poison containers–receptacles into which adults project disowned parts of their psyches, so they can control these feelings in another body without danger to themselves. In good parenting, the child uses the caretaker as a poison container, much [...]

“Most adults think children ‘are feral and a danger to society’” from The Times, written by Martin Narey.

It’s not surprising that the public still harbors a bias against children, despite the fact that the public — by its own principles — should be otherwise!

Why Now?

The 4th of November, 8:56 P.M.: At the moment news is blaring upstairs about who will be the next president. I’ve no idea who’s in the lead (as I have yet to go upstairs), but I think Barack Obama should win. But why am I blathering on about the presidential election when my blog is about entirely different issues? Why would I choose this strange observation–of all things–to start out something potentially great?
